Tieguanyin tea is originated in Anxi in Fujian province. Back in Qing Dynasty, a tea farmer named Wei Yin found this tea plant growing form a rock crevice and planted it in his own backyard. Fascinated by its strong fragrance and iron-like liquor color, Wei believed the tea was a gift by Guanyin, the Chinese goddess of mercy, and thus named the tea Tieguanyin, or "iron goddess of mercy".
All Tieguanyin tea plants in this region are planted on the backside of costal tablelands to avoid disruption by ocean winds. Cultivated in an environment surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers, the Tieguanyin tea here is famous for its unique taste and fragrance.
