Caught in between Fugui Cape and Linshan Cape, the crescent-shaped, 1km long white sand beach earned its nickname "Taiwan"s Kamakura" during Japanese colonial times. The white sand transformed from shattered coral reefs and shells makes for amazing shell-sand scenery. When strong ocean winds blow through the beach, agitated white sand forms neat, beautiful ripple marks. To prevent sand from being blown into inner lands, local residents came up with some special methods. For example, they set up lines of bamboo fences at the boundary between the sand and inner lands. They also plant various sand-fixing plants such as swamp oaks, screw pines, etc.
