The name of Fuji Village is from Fuguijiao (Fugui Cape). Fujui Cape was previously called "Hoek" by the Dutch. The name was later transliterated to Fuji and finally Fugui.

Located near Kengzixi, the place is named for abundant maple trees in the region.

Han immigrants used to build stone and mud walls to defend against Plains tribes. The place is therefore called Touwei.
