Shimen Wind Farm is the third established and first commercially operated wind farm in Taiwan. It has six windmill power generators, and one can find these windmills standing on the distant mountain while driving to Shibawanggong Temple from Jinshan or Tamsui. Currently, only one windmill generator is open for tourism while the others remain as restricted facilities. The tourist area contains a parking lot, a scenic trail, and a scenic terrace, which is located below the windmill and overlooks the nearby ocean view and coast landscape. A big sail-shaped awning is set up at the terrace to provide shelter. The wind farm is also one of the continental crust observation sites designated to observe earth quakes as well as crustal movements.
